Zucchini has a reputation for producing generous amounts of produce each year from it’s stalks – literally, sometimes it seems like it won’t stop making more!
This variety of summer squash is an easy-grower, providing that you give them enough room to spread out. Space seeds or sprouts roughly 3-4 feet apart in rows that are 8-12 feet apart. If your space is limited, try placing trellises above the seeds to help them grow upward and maximize the space you have.
Zucchini prefer moist soil nearly all of the time, but to prevent fungus or mold, water only the soil below, not the tops of the plants.
Be on the lookout for squash bugs, squash vine borers, and cucumber beetles, as these will cause your plants to produce sub-par fruits, and can even cause an entire plant to wilt and die.
When they’re ready, harvest your zucchini when they measure about 4-6 inches long. Enjoy!!
