If you’ve spent ten minutes or ten years in south Georgia, you probably know what Kudzu is, or rather, you’ve seen it grace our roadways and woods.
Although Kudzu may seem sort of pretty as it scales the side of trees and boulders, it is most definitely not to be admired.
Kudzu is a native of Asia and was brought over to America in the 1800s, meant to be used as a sort of ground cover or for erosion control. Quickly, however, it began to aggressively spread and became a real problem.
Today, Kudzu grows in long, viney, leafy nets that can climb up to 100 feet. If left untouched and unimpeded, it completely covers plants and even trees underneath it’s leaves, smothering the native plants until they eventually die.
Because of the national awareness that this plant is invasive, we encourage you to locate and identify this plant when it crosses onto your property, and remove it (only as much as possible! Don’t hurt yourself, though ;)).
If you need help with an invasive plant removal, call Ninja Lawns! We’re happy to help.
