01-29-15 spray painted twigs with light decorWhile we love to admire their milky white trunks, mature Birch trees are oftentimes too large to bring indoors and must remain outside in their natural habitats.

However, you can achieve the same effect by gathering tall, smooth limbs of similar height from trees on your property, and spraying them white with craft spray paint.

Let dry.

In a 3- or 5-gallon bucket, arrange rocks or other heavy, durable material at the bottom, and arrange the limbs upright in the bucket, allowing the rocks to stabilize the limbs into the structure of a small tree.  Once the branches are firmly secure and won’t tip over, tie burlap or other material around the base of the bucket to hide the plastic.

White lights may be hung in the tree’s branches to create a soft glow, or glitter can be sprinkled on the limbs to reflect the sunlight during the day.  Use this arrangement in large spaces that need height and depth of interest, especially on front porches and entryways.

These easy, natural decor ideas are budget-friendly and environmentally friendly, as well, and may give your home that added sparkle that you were searching for.
