When planning out the bare-bones structure of your garden, remember to consider the plants which will “anchor” the garden, or create a firm background and add weight to the landscape.
Some of our favorite garden anchors include plants/varieties such as hydrangea, loropetalum, nandina, azalea, juniper, burning bushes, rose bushes, hostas, tea olive trees, crabapple trees, and many more.
Try to add dimension and depth by staggering your anchors and spacing them throughout the space that you are working with, rather than clumping all of the tall plants together, etc.
With so many great pieces to choose from, your garden or landscaping can be unique while still maintaining a balanced feel.
