After this HOT HOT summer, I’m looking forward to trying some new ideas for fall and even next spring, and a lot of those ideas are involving containers! They are portable, individual, and awesome to give as gifts.
There are SO many different ways to make a container garden unique, and I think it starts with the vessel itself! Many people forget that the pot that you choose is very nearly as important as the plants you put INTO it. Instead of defaulting to a clay-colored plastic pot that you can find at Lowe’s (you know which ones I mean!) :), why not try something like an old washtub that’s been abandoned, or maybe some rain gutter pieces that you could hang under a window. Or maybe, for a more permanent placement in your landscape, try hollowing out a spent tree stump that previously was an eyesore, and turn it into something beautiful and special.
I’ve seen many creative ideas around, some of the cutest being an upcycled wheelbarrow, and a thrifted chair turned planter by nestling a pot in the removed seat part. The extra rustic touches were just lovely and added so much character to arrangements.
I did see an old, well, toilet, in someone’s front yard that had flowers in it, and truthfully, that one wasn’t my favorite. You get the idea 🙂
So, if you’d like to try your hand at some container gardens, get creative with the pots, and share your ideas below!
Great ideas! ( except the toilet one). I love the tree stump idea.
