02-10-15 shady gardenYou may have the perfect plot for your garden, but it’s in the shade most of the day.  No worries!  These plants can take the humid heat of the summertime, without all the sunshine.

Elephant ear in “Lime Zinger” is a great addition and will help flesh out a garden that needs a little more fullness.  We love elephant ears paired with gardenias or varieties of astilbe, which blooms in hues of burgundy, pink, lavender, and white.

Gardenias and hostas are favorites for shade gardens because of their lovely green foliage and tall blooms, gardenia blooming white or cream, and hostas blooming light purple or white.

Combine any of these shade-lovers with annuals or perennials that also do not require much sunlight.
