We know that it’s the cool season now in Georgia, but this is a great time to think ahead to spring colors and your garden spaces! When planning, try working in a specific color palette, especially if you have a strong preference for a particular hue. Choose colors that compliment each other, but not necessarily “match” exactly.
The similar colors create enough variety without becoming monotonous. For example, if you happen to love reds, try mixing the vibrant reds of a Knock-Out rose with softer, more subdued blooms like zinnias or begonias, and add in a little dusty-red foliage with nandina or loropetalums.
If blue is your cup of tea, try adding hydrangeas to mixtures of grape hyacinth, foxglove, and morning glory varieties.
White gardens might include such plants as Annabelle hydrangeas, vincas, Japanese anemones, lilacs, or moss phlox.
Green gardens are never dull when you mix plants such as hostas, juniper, creeping sedum, and green varieties of succulents.
