Yup, pittosporum is the name. And it’s actually one of our favorite shrubs to use for hedges and landscaping, too.
I mean, look at those gorgeous, glossy green leaves?
Pittosporum has it’s origins in China and Japan, however, it is widely used in gardens all over the world, and in many climates. Known for it’s tough and hardy nature, these shrubs are very dense-growing and make great foundation plants in landscaping beds. They can also be used as hedge plants if you wish, since they are easily shapeable and knit together well.
Install pittosporum in almost any location that is not consistently wet. As is grows and matures, it will also become drought tolerant, making it ideal for the hot southern summers that we face around here.
We hope you’ll take the opportunity to check out this amazing shrub at your local garden center sometime soon!
