Daylilies are lovely in the summertime, yet have the ability to make a mess if you wait to prune them until the following spring.
I actually recently asked my husband to completely pull out my daylily, and a few days after he removed all the green and brown spears, the whole plant grew again, even more vibrant and lush than before!
If your daylily’s leaves begin to turn brown or black in the fall, or they are damaged by a frost, trim the plant to remove the damaged portions, clipping away the dead or spent flowering stalks, or simply pull out the weak and dying portions to make way for new growth.
I guess sometimes a fresh start is a very good thing. 🙂
