Nandina is not just for summertime! It’s actually a show-stopper in the fall and winter months with it’s bright red and orange leaves that simply glow.
Growing up to 10 feet high and 3-5 feet wide, nandina’s evergreen design is similar in structure to bamboo varieties. It has been known to grow in zones 7 and 8 for over 100 years, with little to no care at all. Talk about an easy grower!
Plant in part shade to full sun – full sun being especially important in winter to achieve those blazing-red colors.
When clustered together, grouped nandina oftentimes will produce full clusters of bright red berries in the fall and winter months, with delicate blooms popping out in the spring and summer.
Try nandina for a strong, hardy shrub that works well as garden anchors, landscaping structure, and also as short privacy screens.
