You’ll only need a small plot in your garden to grow these spicy, onion-y greens. In fact, scallions are typically classified as “onions pulled young before the bulb forms”, and they don’t need much room to grow.
Scallions have very shallow root systems, so make sure that you select a spot that has flat soil, preferably in full sun. Plant seeds in early spring to get best crop results.
