Bringing the natural wonder of the outdoors into your home can be easy and fun, if you know what to look for!
You may have pinecones already included in your home decor, arrangements, or wreaths that have served their purpose in the previous months and now must be either “upcycled” or recycled.
If your decor is able to be disassembled back to it’s basic components, save the pinecones and other reusable material. Pinecones can make an easy, yet cheery, garnish for your front door or gate with simple household goods.
Tie or glue your favorite 1-inch-thick ribbon strand to the top of your pinecones, securing them firmly and cutting the ribbon to leave differing lengths. Fasten the loose ends of the ribbons together with a knot, bow, or other tie-off, allowing the pinecones to cluster at the bottom. Secure the tops of the ribbons to the entryway of your choice and use it all winter long!
Use different colored threads, smaller bows at the crown of the pinecones, etc. to reflect your home’s style.
Other options for upcycling your pinecones might include: candle votives, centerpieces, mantle arrangements, and much more. Have fun exploring and getting creative!
